Getting Started

Years ago, I realized that I had turned taking my cello out of my case into the most intimidating moment of my practice routine. My brain would have a field day with that ten seconds, generating a long list of reasons why I should not take my cello out and should instead go do literally anything else. If this is ever you when it comes time to do the things, I see you! Nothing is more annoying than standing your own way.

So let’s try this: simplify. More often than not, whatever it is, it’s already simple, and I just need to let it be. And if it’s not, I am perfectly capable of simplifying it!

If you’ve ever found yourself intimidated by the idea of doing something in the kitchen, I’ve got a starting recipe for you. Intentionally without measurements or cook times, this recipe exists mainly as a reminder that we don’t need food, or anything for that matter, to be complicated. We don’t need a million ingredients, excessive gadgets, or a fifteen step process. We don’t need it to be perfect, we don’t even need it to be good. We just need to get started.

Ingredients:
1 sturdy veggie or piece of fish/meat - something that you love to eat
Olive oil
Salt

Preparation:
Coat your food in plenty of olive oil and dust with salt. Apply your heat of choice on medium, cook veggies until desired tenderness and fish/meat until preferred/safe internal temp. Enjoy with a glass of water or wine.
